About Course

Develop industrial accounts through technical discovery, controlled quotations, application-led marketing, total-cost comparisons and reliable delivery promises. Work through fictional RFQs, margin calculations, lead-time checks and account reviews without making unapproved engineering claims.

What Will You Learn?

  • LO01: Qualify industrial buying needs and control technical requirements.
  • LO02: Create relevant account outreach and evidence-based product content.
  • LO03: Compare stated ownership costs and calculate quotation margins.
  • LO04: Manage delivery commitments, technical exceptions and negotiations.
  • LO05: Coordinate handover and use account measures to improve service.

Course Content

Industrial buyers and requirements
Industrial buyers evaluate continuity, technical fit, cost and commercial reliability together. A maintenance user may identify the need while engineering approves suitability and procurement places the order. Record the application, specification reference, quantity, unit and revision. Separate confirmed facts from assumptions. Sales can coordinate a technical answer but must not invent an equivalence, certification or operating limit. A controlled requirement record reduces quotation errors and protects the customer relationship.

  • 01. Map industrial stakeholders and qualify demand
  • 02. Control RFQ specifications and clarify gaps

Technical marketing and account development
Useful industrial marketing answers a real application question with traceable evidence. Product features become valuable when connected to the customer’s operating problem and supported by suitable data. Select accounts by fit, purchasing pattern and reachable stakeholders, then use a relevant reason to engage. Avoid exaggerated performance claims, confidential customer details and indiscriminate contact lists. Track meaningful responses and qualified RFQs rather than treating every impression as an opportunity.

Value and quotation economics
The lowest unit price may not produce the lowest stated ownership cost. Compare equivalent requirements, periods and cost categories; distinguish measured performance from assumptions. A quotation must also protect the supplier’s own economics. Include the relevant purchase, freight, handling and service costs once each. Gross margin uses selling price as the denominator, while markup uses cost. Commercial calculations do not replace engineering approval or a complete accounting assessment.

Availability and commercial agreement
A delivery promise depends on stock allocation, replenishment, processing, transport and customer readiness. Available stock differs from physical stock because other orders may already reserve units. Tender responses must identify deviations rather than conceal them. Negotiate quantities, delivery schedules and service scope with the appropriate authority. Keep specification versions, agreed alternatives, lead times, commercial validity and warranty information aligned across quotation, order acknowledgement and handover.

Handover and account performance
Industrial customers judge the supplier after order placement through accuracy, communication and dependable fulfilment. Handover should transfer the approved specification, documentation, delivery details and escalation contacts. Commercial staff should route technical problems promptly without giving unauthorised operating advice. Define measures such as on-time-in-full delivery and quote conversion before using them. Segment repeat demand from one-off projects so replenishment recommendations reflect actual consumption and changing operating conditions.
