Course Content

Segments and guest expectations
Different guest segments value different combinations of location, flexibility, amenities, service and price. Corporate, leisure and group demand can vary by day and season. Segment selection should consider the property’s actual capability and available inventory. The guest journey begins with the promise made in marketing and booking communication. Accurate descriptions, clear conditions and confirmed special requirements reduce the gap between expectation and delivery.

  • 01. Choose guest segments that fit the property
  • 02. Communicate accurate offers across the guest journey

Room revenue and distribution
Room-revenue measures describe different aspects of performance and do not by themselves show profit. Use consistent periods and room counts when calculating occupancy, average daily rate and revenue per available room. Channel comparisons need more than a headline rate: include the stated distribution and acquisition costs and consider cancellation behaviour and incremental demand. Course examples use invented commissions and simplified costs rather than asserting current platform charges.

Group sales and reputation
Group and corporate proposals must connect the buyer’s purpose to a feasible room, meeting and service arrangement. Record dates, quantities, inclusions, release conditions and decision deadlines using authorised terms. Marketing should reflect real facilities and approved evidence. Reviews are valuable when they reflect genuine experience; do not buy favourable ratings or suppress legitimate criticism. A responsible reputation process listens to feedback and improves the underlying service.

Recovery and forward planning
Hospitality delivery crosses several departments, so service promises need clear ownership and timely handover. Recovery should protect guest privacy and use confirmed options within authority. Forward planning separates bookings already held from expected pickup, cancellations and actual stays. Forecasts are scenarios to update, not guarantees. Account development should follow relevant guest or corporate needs, communication preferences and the property’s capacity to deliver the promised experience.
