Course Content

Customer journey and sales conversations
Retail service starts before a product recommendation and continues after payment. Customers may be browsing, comparing, replacing or solving an urgent problem. Use a welcoming approach, open questions and an accurate summary to understand purpose, budget and constraints. Offer accessible information and avoid assumptions about spending ability or needs. A useful recommendation fits the customer’s situation and gives them room to decide without pressure.

  • 01. Map the retail journey and recognise customer needs
  • 02. Listen actively and demonstrate a suitable product

Value, add-ons and transparent offers
Explain value through relevant features, suitability and evidence rather than exaggerated promises. Additional items should solve a related need, not be added without consent. Price communication must make the offer, conditions and total clear. Calculate discounts, cost and margin consistently and check the approved promotion before describing it. Fictional policy examples in this course must not be used to override applicable consumer rights or actual retailer obligations.

Recovery and connected service
A complaint is a request for a fair response, not an invitation to argue. Listen, clarify facts, identify the desired resolution and act within authority. Protect private customer information and escalate where needed. Store and online channels should share accurate stock, reservation and fulfilment information. A smooth experience depends on clear ownership when the customer moves between channels, especially when availability or delivery differs from an initial expectation.

Merchandising and performance improvement
Merchandising helps customers understand choices, prices and related uses. Test changes against a defined goal while keeping availability and service conditions in view. Retail measures need consistent populations: visits, transactions, units and revenue are not interchangeable. Returns can change net revenue without changing the original transaction count. Use a balanced view of sales, service and customer feedback to choose practical improvements instead of rewarding pressure selling.
