About Course

A four-hour course for managers and supervisors on turning health and safety responsibilities into effective decisions. Covers accountability, planning, resources, risk controls, competence, consultation, safeguards, change, contractors, occupational health, emergency readiness, incident investigation, performance and management review. Includes 12 modules, 24 lessons with activities, 30 quiz questions and a fictional management action-plan assignment.

LO01: Explain managers’ operational accountability and the role and limits of specialist health and safety advice.
LO02: Translate policy into assigned responsibilities, resourced objectives and escalation arrangements.
LO03: Review risk assessments and choose controls that address hazards and people exposed.
LO04: Plan competence checks, task authorisation, training and supervision appropriate to risk.
LO05: Consult workers, communicate understandable instructions and respond to concerns without discouraging reporting.
LO06: Maintain critical safeguards and review changes before affected work begins.
LO07: Coordinate contractor competence, site interfaces, authorisation, monitoring and handover.
LO08: Plan controls for occupational health exposures, ergonomic risks, fatigue, stress and heat.
LO09: Ensure emergency, first-aid and welfare arrangements work for the actual workforce and shifts.
LO10: Organise incident response, factual reporting and investigation of immediate and underlying causes.
LO11: Interpret safety indicators and use inspections and audits to verify controls.
LO12: Conduct evidence-based management review and prioritise, resource and verify improvement actions.
